Troubleshooting
Solutions for common technical issues on ForsakenRO.
All that stands between you and your perfect RO server is a download, but don't worry — we've made it as stress-free and convenient for you as possible.
First Steps
Before diving into specific solutions, try these basic fixes:
- Restart the game client
- Restart your computer
- Run the client as administrator
- Re-patch the game client
Common Issues
Can't Login to Game
Problem: Having trouble logging into the game.
Account Creation
Make sure you've created an in-game account at the Control Panel.
Solution:
Create an in-game account at the Control Panel if you haven't already.
Getting Gravity Errors
Problem: Receiving gravity error messages when trying to play.
Don't Panic!
Just follow these steps carefully:
Solutions:
- Make sure you have the all-in-one download installed
- Run the ForsakenRO Patcher and make sure you are fully patched
- Try running the game again and test if you still error
- If you still error, download the small patch and install it into your RO folder
- Run the ForsakenRO Patcher again
- Try running the game again and test if you still error
- If you still error after this, contact support via Discord or use @request in-game to report when exactly you error
Map-Specific Errors
If you error after warping to a specific map and the above steps don't help, you can reset your character's position at the control panel as a temporary fix.
Getting LUA Errors
Problem: Receiving LUA error messages in-game.
Don't Panic!
Just follow these steps:
Solutions:
- Download the LUA fix file (ask staff in Discord for current link)
- Extract it into your RO folder and overwrite all files
- Go in-game and see if you still error
- If you still error, log on to a different character and type:
/hoai(for homunculus)/mirai(for mercenary)- Log back into your Alchemist/Biochemist and your homunculus/mercenary should now work
Game Closes Immediately with No Error
Problem: When starting the game it closes immediately with no error message.
Solution:
This means you have not yet set up your setup.exe. Follow these steps:
- Go to your RO folder
- Open the setup application by double clicking it
- At the top bar select your graphics card
- Select the resolution you want (Always pick one lower or equal to your current resolution, not higher)
- Press OK
- Right click your setup application and click run as administrator
- Select the resolution again
- Press OK
- Start the game by double clicking FkenRO.exe
- Your client should now work
Windows 8/10/11 Users
Disable full screen mode at the setup as full screen mode doesn't cooperate well with newer Windows versions.
Patcher Issues
Patcher Won't Work
Problem: Patcher won't start, fails to update, or gets stuck.
Update Issues
After an update, the patcher may have trouble updating specific files.
Solutions:
Method 1: Small Patch
- Go to the download page and download the Small Patch
- The small patch gets updated after each update and includes the newest server-side files
- Install the small patch into your RO folder
- Run the ForsakenRO patcher - it should now be fully updated
Method 2: Manual Patch
- Download the manual patch from the downloads page
- Be aware that the manual patch might take longer to get updated compared to the small patch
- Extract the manual patch into your RO folder and overwrite all
- Run the ForsakenRO patcher - it should now be fully updated
- Play the game with the new updates!
Antivirus Interference
Many antivirus programs flag game patchers as suspicious. Add the entire ForsakenRO folder to your antivirus exceptions list.
Installation Issues
Client Won't Install or Extract
Problem: Archive won't extract or installation fails.
Solutions:
- Download a fresh copy of the client
- Use a different extraction tool (7-Zip, WinRAR)
- Check if you have enough disk space (need 5GB+)
- Disable antivirus temporarily during installation
- Extract to a simple path (e.g., C:ForsakenRO)
Launch Issues
Game Won't Start
Problem: Nothing happens when clicking the launcher, or it crashes immediately
Solutions:
Right-click ForsakenRO.exe → Run as Administrator
Install these if not already present:
Right-click ForsakenRO.exe → Properties → Compatibility → Try Windows 7 or 8 compatibility mode
Try switching between:
- Windowed mode
- Full screen
- Different resolutions
Black Screen or Graphics Issues
Problem: Game launches but shows black screen or graphical glitches
Solutions:
- Update your graphics card drivers
- Switch between DirectX modes in setup
- Lower graphics settings
- Run in windowed mode
- Disable overlay applications (Discord, Steam, etc.)
"Failed to Connect to Server"
Problem: Can't connect to the game server
Solutions:
- Check if the server is online (website status or Discord)
- Verify your internet connection
- Flush DNS: Open Command Prompt as admin and run:
ipconfig /flushdns - Disable proxy/VPN if using one
- Check firewall isn't blocking the game
- Try restarting your router
In-Game Issues
Constant Disconnections
Problem: Getting kicked from the server frequently
Solutions:
- Check your internet stability
- Close bandwidth-heavy programs
- Use a wired connection instead of WiFi
- Disable background updates
- Contact your ISP if problem persists
High Lag or Ping
Problem: Game is playable but laggy
Solutions:
- Close other applications using internet
- Play during off-peak hours
- Check task manager for background processes
- Use a wired connection
- Consider VPN if routing is poor
- Check if anyone else on your network is using bandwidth
Skills Not Working
Problem: Skills fail to cast or have strange behavior
Solutions:
- Check if you have required items (arrows, catalysts, etc.)
- Verify you meet skill requirements
- Make sure you're not silenced or frozen
- Relog to refresh client state
- Report persistent issues to GMs
Can't Pick Up Items
Problem: Unable to loot items from the ground
Solutions:
- Check if your inventory is full
- Verify weight limit isn't exceeded
- Make sure the item isn't protected by loot rights
- Wait for loot timer to expire
- Try clicking directly on the item
Account Issues
Can't Login
Problem: Username/password not working
Solutions:
- Double-check caps lock is off
- Verify you're using the correct credentials
- Use password recovery on the control panel
- Check if account is banned (check email for notifications)
- Contact staff if problem persists
Forgot Password
Problem: Can't remember account password
Solution:
- Go to the control panel website
- Click "Forgot Password"
- Enter your username or email
- Follow the reset instructions sent to your email
- Check spam folder if email doesn't arrive
Account Security
Never share your password with anyone, including those claiming to be staff. GMs will never ask for your password.
Character Deleted or Missing
Problem: Character appears to be gone
Solutions:
- Make sure you're on the correct account
- Check all character slots
- Verify server connection is stable
- Contact GMs immediately if character is truly missing
- Do not create a new character in that slot until issue is resolved
Error Messages
"Failed to Load Data"
Problem: Error message about loading game data
Solution:
- Run the patcher again
- Verify game files integrity
- Reinstall if corrupted files detected
"Disconnected from Server"
Problem: Random disconnections with this message
Solutions:
- Check for server announcements (maintenance?)
- Verify internet stability
- Relog and try again
- Contact GMs if it persists for your account only
"Client has stopped working"
Problem: Game crashes with Windows error
Solutions:
- Update graphics drivers
- Install all Windows updates
- Verify DirectX and Visual C++ are installed
- Check game files aren't corrupted
- Run compatibility troubleshooter
Performance Issues
Low FPS or Stuttering
Problem: Game runs slowly or with stuttering
Solutions:
- Lower graphics settings in setup.exe
- Close other programs
- Update graphics drivers
- Disable visual effects in game
- Clean temporary files
- Check for overheating components
Long Loading Times
Problem: Game takes forever to load
Solutions:
- Install on SSD if available
- Defragment hard drive (if using HDD)
- Close background applications
- Verify game files aren't corrupted
- Check disk health
Advanced Troubleshooting
Clean Reinstall
If all else fails, perform a clean reinstall:
- Backup your settings (if possible)
- Completely uninstall the game
- Delete the ForsakenRO folder
- Clear temporary files:
- Press Win+R, type

- Download fresh client from website
- Install to a new location
- Patch fully before playing
